Individual Therapy for Adults
There is no "wrong" way for you (the patient) to do therapy. Our goal is to try and understand your inner world (thoughts, feelings, wishes, expectations) and how it informs your behavior. An important part of change is exploring and understanding where you're starting from - regardless of where that is, and without judgement.

Below are some common reasons that people seek treatment.
You're seeking an evaluation for the first time and would prefer to meet with someone who is trained to provide a comprehensive evaluation, including recommendations regarding therapy and medications.
Despite being successful and accomplished, you have a hard time relaxing, feeling content, or enjoying intimate connections with others.
You've tried therapy before and felt it did not work for you. Similarly, you've been on medication but still have a hard time with troublesome feelings.
A change in your life (e.g. promotion, retirement, having a child, divorce, or other work/relationship challenge) has resulted in stress or negative feelings.
You're feeling stuck in one or more areas of your life. You feel that something is "off" and that something needs to change, but you're not sure what, or how to go about it.
You have uncomfortable physical symptoms and either you or your doctor feel that stress or "something "psychological" is contributing.
You have difficulty performing your best at work and struggle with motivation, focus, or leadership.
You're having difficulty with relationships, whether romantic, sexual, work, or family. Perhaps a family member or partner has encouraged you to seek help.
